Well... you convinced me to take up an AliEx discount and have a go with this apparent marvel! I'd held off, when I read of multiple difficulties and dissatisfactions that users were experiencing with the ATS 20. I am so NOTTT a fan of any Arduino/ RaspberryPi etc based stuff. Just a black box of nastiness to me... something I will never learn to use/ program/ fix! Just the whole concept of ever having to tell a gizmo what to do... on what pin... in its own language... yeah/nah. As soon as I see or hear the word Arduino I usually scroll on as it just doesn't apply to me! Anyhow... I've ordered one, and hopefully I will never have to update the firmware to get it going. That will be the very same day it becomes an expensive paperweight.

All this scare about bricked radios duhhhh. All they are saying is don't try this unless you know what you are doing and can follow instructions ..else all bets are off. That is the same for all electronics just not this radio.

Why not just withdraw the fw update if they know your radio can be bricked and they won’t honour warranty cla8ms from a problem of their making?

This should have had BNC or SMA antenna connection.

This problem of muting was solved on receivers a while ago, which should not have waited until it's debut. Dan Robinson said the update he did recently bricked his raddy 919, so I won't do it. I still think it's odd that it's not covered for such an occurrence, what's the point if you are stuck with a dead receiver, or amateur radio equipment from a legal firmware update. 😮

I just bought one! Pretty smooth, I can learn about radio frequencies/channels, what they are, the different ones and have fun listening, seeing what i can get. I like the record show feature, with the SD card.

I just got one . I am still learning the radio. I am impressed with the stock antenna i am picking SSB signials on 40 meters and picks up well. Have not tried the other antennas ports yet. What all aroumd portable anteena would you recommend for this radio?

I’ve just returned mine, followed the updated firmware instructions to the letter and it bricked! Thankfully I got it from Amazon and a full refund was issued. Great radio, loved it….i really did. Another downer was Raddy support, I contacted them about the new antenna and they wouldn’t send me one as I got it from Amazon and they said my order number was wrong…screen shot of order and invoice provided but alas it was a you can’t have one 🤷 I may get another, I really did like it. The speaker is great. Does either of those sets have the new firmware? If not how can you be certain they haven’t fixed the mute? I’ll probably get another when the dust settles on this experience.

I'm licensed since 2005 and it's still very rare that I talk on the radio, I would talk allot on CB though back in the day as it was more relaxed.

Thanks Fred for the Orange display model of my Green Display Zhiwhiz A320. I found its MW reception was quite good considering it is like you say a novelty radio. It did get me into MW DXing again with the MW nullification is surprisingly good which helps with a strong and weak station on the same frequency. I wish the Raddy RF919 would be able to scan on one band only like my ZhiWhiz A320. The Raddy RF919 should be able to have a choice of every EQ setting like the Zhiwhiz A320. I have used my Zhiwhiz A320 as a PC SDcard reader/writer which increases its functionality, plus built in flashlight. 73! Have a great day!

Hi FRED just watched your video sorry but I'm only just watched this now, because I was out with some friends and the football, 2.1. it's a shame that most of these radio's just won't Go down to the 20 megahertz so we can just have a listen, because that would be great for us, working somewhere with the radio on just listening for maybe someone calling you, or just plan enjoy ment, anyway FRED great show again mate.ps got my ARIEL up and been trying to swr in , and yeah it's one of those , got it down to 1.9 . like you said in one of your videos, we can get a bit over the top on trying to get 1.1 . Saw this on Ali under the brand name retekess for around £65.

Whilst the flashlight is bright the bottom surface will get scratched up and reduce the brightness. Does look like a very silly place to put a flashlight. Might be worth cutting out a screen protector to size and use. That voice sounds like a darts referee saying 180‼️
